Franco Clivio

Product designer Franco Clivio, who was born in 1942, studied at the college of design (Hochschule für Gestaltung) in Ulm. His work for companies such as ERCO, FSB, Gardena, Rodenstock and Siemens has won multiple awards. Both as a designer and in his many years as a lecturer in Zürich,

his interest lies in those unassuming objects that enrich everyday life through functionality and technical finesse. It is to these objects that he has devoted the exhibition “No Name Design”, which has been shown in various locations since 2013.

The LAMY pico pocket ballpoint is a genuine quick-change artist: a complex mechanism makes the compact cylinder into a mature ballpoint at a flick of the wrist.

The uncapped LAMY dialog 3 fountain pen also fascinates with clever technology: with a simple twist, the nib glides elegantly from inside the body whilst the clip sinks into the casing.

The most important thing is what happens in my head before I produce a design. Suddenly I look at things differently: I see them more precisely.
