In 1966 with the LAMY 2000 model, Dr. Manfred Lamy founded the clear, unmistakable design language that is still characteristic of all the brand's products today - the LAMY design. This design approach was not only innovative for the time but is still unparalleled today: Pioneering spirit has been a core value of LAMY’s corporate culture from the very beginning.
The first and fundamental prerequisite for the design process at LAMY is to develop an attitude towards everything. They should be beautiful, functional, durable and, if possible, available to all. LAMY has developed guard rails for its design process, also called design corridors: no ornaments or fashionable embellishments, the most important thing is a long physical and, above all, visual durability. The Bauhaus and companies such as Olivetti, WMF, Rosenthal and Braun were the models.
An attitude towards everything requires education, knowledge, awareness and, last but not least, a cultural foundation - this is Dr Lamy's conviction.
The timelessly modern aesthetics of the LAMY design combined with the highest quality have always guaranteed the most effective form of sustainability: lasting enjoyment of the products and therefore their long-term use. The liberation from fashionable ornamentation and the consistent renunciation of all details that do not serve function ensure this: LAMY writing instruments are not disposable products. They accompany people for years and decades of their lives.
