Or you can use the LAMY converter, which is inserted into the pen instead of the ink cartridge. With the converter, the pen can be filled from an inkwell.

Engraving your initials or even your full name can transform a simple writing instrument into a highly personal accessory. Engraving can be done either by pad printing or milling, or by laser. Personalization can be done either on the body or on/next to the clip, depending, of course, on the type of pen and the material it is made of. Various font types are available. If you need to use one of the functions of the LAMY 4pen multifunctional pen, make sure you see the mark on the writing instrument and you can click. It is a gravity-based system, regardless of the function you see at the top of the multifunctional pen, pressing the button activates the desired function. LAMY offers a wide range of multifunctional pens in various combinations of writing systems. LAMY multifunction pens use M 21 ballpoint refills, 0.5 and 0.7 mm mechanical pencil refills, M 55 orange text marker refills, and/or M 70 touchscreen refills.

To change one of the LAMY multifunction pen refills, twist it open in the middle.

Most LAMY mechanical pencils have a particularly interesting feature: the cleaning needle. Graphite particles can sometimes become lodged in the pencil mechanism and block access to the tip. You can use the cleaning needle to remove the blockage.

In the case of fountain pens, because they are exposed to air, the nib and ink channel can dry out and become encrusted, especially if cartridges are used. If a piston or converter filling system is used, this problem is much rarer, as the nib and ink channel are automatically cleaned each time the pen is filled.

Caked ink can be removed by filling the converter with water or ink and flushing the system several times.

Often, it helps to simply unscrew the front section and soak it in water for a few hours.

Never add soap or detergent to the water!

The front section must always be dry before use.

Contents: In the Middle Ages, ferro-gallic ink was the most commonly used ink for writing with a quill. The disadvantage of ferrous ink (containing iron oxides) is that it ages and dries very quickly in the bottle and is therefore not suitable for pens. After water-soluble dyes appeared on the market and were perfected into synthetic water-soluble dyes, ferro-gallic ink became less and less popular.

The inks used in pens today are pure inks made from water and dyes.

Shelf life: Once an ink cartridge has been activated, its average shelf life when left in a pen that is not being used is 12 months. After 12 months, the ink begins to evaporate. The result is a cartridge that is only half full of ink, even though it has not been used.

Mixing different ink colors: It is not recommended to mix several ink colors due to different pH values. Make sure the pen reservoir is thoroughly cleaned with water before filling it with a new ink color.

Removing ink stains: Only royal blue ink can be cleaned/washed out of most fabrics. For other colors, rinse immediately with water and detergent. Do not attempt to remove ink stains using solvent.

Water resistant: According to the German DIN ISO standard, the inks are not waterproof. The black and dark blue ink is permanent and can be read after decades if the inscriptions are stored in a dry place away from light.

The rollerball pen is as easy to use as a ballpoint pen, but it also gives you the same pleasure as writing with a fountain pen – these are the two main features of the rollerball pen.
