An excellent year: prizes and awards for Lamy

Every year, Lamy writing instruments win international design awards. This carried on in 2016 which saw a Red Dot Award and an iF Award for the high-quality LAMY imporium series. In addition, in the year of Lamy’s 50th design anniversary, the company and brand management received several special awards, including the golden German Brand Award in the “Office & Stationary” category.

German Brand Award for Lamy

Each year, the German Design Council presents the German Brand Award to pioneering brands which are deserving due to their successful brand management. Lamy persuaded the jury in the “Industry Excellence in Branding” category and received the golden German Brand Award in the “Office & Stationery” segment. In its justification, the jury emphasised the particularly long lifespan of Lamy products: “Timeless design, high quality standards and sustainable, environmentally-friendly production guarantee adherence to a responsible brand promise which is then emphasised through high-quality communications and transported in an appropriate manner.”

“Innovation ranking” by Wirtschaftswoche

According to this year’s “Innovation ranking” by Wirtschaftswoche magazine, Lamy is also one of the most innovative companies in Germany: of around 3,500 medium-sized enterprises analysed, Lamy occupied fifth place. The ranking was carried out on behalf of Wirtschaftswoche by corporate consultants Munich Strategy Group (MSG) to identify Germany’s 50 most innovative medium-sized enterprises.

“Customer confidence ranking 2016” by Wirtschaftswoche

The “Customer confidence ranking 2016” by Wirtschaftswoche also saw Lamy achieve an above average success: in the “Writing instruments” category, Lamy was awarded the “Very high customer confidence” distinction. This award underlines the company’s high quality standards which not only cover its high-quality designer writing instruments but also extend to its excellent service. The ranking was prepared on the basis of a scientific study conducted between market research institute “Service Value” and the Goethe University of Frankfurt which investigated customer confidence in 890 companies from 67 industries.

“Entrepreneur of the Year” 2016

In 2016, the managing partner at Lamy, Bernhard M. Rösner, made it to the 25 finalists of the renowned “Entrepreneur of the Year” awards. The business prize initiated by Ernst & Young is staged every year in over 60 countries and is awarded to companies which demonstrate great innovation while also providing solid guarantees for growth and employment. The awards are given to entrepreneurs who make a valuable contribution to the innovation and competitiveness of Germany as a business location through their personal commitment and readiness to take risks.

Double award: LAMY imporium

The LAMY imporium series of writing instruments, launched in 2015, received two design prizes last year, namely the coveted Red Dot Award and the iF Design Award. The model designed by Mario Bellini convinced the juries with its combination of playful details and consistently reduced forms. The trademark feature of the series is the striking, straight-lined body. One exciting contrast of this is the strictly cylindrical smooth cap with its solid, shiny clip. In addition, the LAMY imporium only features first-class materials – gold, platinum or titanium. Another special highlight of the fountain pen is the PVD-coated dual colour gold nib which creates a unique soft feel when writing and is available in various sizes.
