Lamy named Brand of the Century Heidelberg manufacturer of writing instruments receives German Standards Brand Award.

Lamy is synonymous with design and quality made in Germany. As one of the most significant brands in Germany, the Heidelberg manufacturer of writing instruments was honoured with the German Standards Brand Award in the Fountain Pens category and added to the compendium 'Brands of the Century – Lighthouses in the sea of brands' by a high-ranking jury.

Beate Oblau, Head of Marketing at Lamy, commented on the award's presentation by Florian Langenscheidt, publisher of Brands of the Century, saying: "We are delighted to receive this important award today. The prize honours our brand and above all the tradition and principles of our products and the entire company." The fascination of Lamy writing instruments has been characterised by the Bauhaus principle of 'form following function' for about half a century now. Every product has to fulfil its function while also being durable and beautiful. This holistically high standard of innovative design and premium quality is what makes Lamy the market leader in Germany and creates a design brand whose products also hold a top position worldwide.

The German Standards Brand Award, a sculpture designed by the internationally renowned designer Mike Meiré, makes Lamy a member of the exclusive circle of 250 brands, each of which represents their product category with a unique feature. Brought together in a prestigious work, they form a complete picture of German (world) market leaders. The especially elaborately-designed anniversary edition of 'Brands of the Century – Lighthouses in the sea of brands' tells the story of all brands to have received the award in words and pictures. It is published both nationally and internationally by the Deutsche Standards EDITIONEN publishing house.

Since 2002, the Brands of the Century initiative has been accompanied by extensive measures and a huge media presence, for example the "Lange Nacht der Kulturmarken" [Night of Cultural Brands] in collaboration with the TV channel ZDF. This has allowed the initiative to become a significant institution in brand communications over the last 10 years.
