Heidelberg, March 2011. With its new LAMY econ product series, Lamy once again proves that design and functionality go hand in hand for the family firm in Heidelberg. Following the successful collaborations with prominent designers such as Knud Holscher and Franco Clivio, the visual design of the new writing instrument series, consisting of a ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil, has been created by the EOOS design office.
The Austrian designer trio of Martin Bergmann, Gernot Bohmann and Harald Gründl has already worked successfully with Alessi and Bulthaupt. They were recently awarded the Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany 2010 in Gold for the innovative and minimalist design of the Bulthaupt b2 kitchen workshop. EOOS creates products in which artistic traditions are combined with new technologies to produce a unique work – on this occasion, the LAMY econ.
The new LAMY econ series comprises a ballpoint pen and a mechanical pencil. Both writing instruments are impressive with their clear and discreet shape, and thus blend in seamlessly with the Bauhaus style that characterises the Lamy product range. The strikingly shaped clip and innovative grip zone with two narrow longitudinal notches on the sides represent the design highlights. The look of the sandblasted velvet-finished stainless steel underlines the high quality of the latest addition to the product range of C. Josef Lamy GmbH.
With the new LAMY econ, the Heidelberg-based family firm proves once again that high-quality, functional design does not have to be expensive.
The LAMY econ is 100 per cent Made in Germany – like all Lamy products.
