Another award for LAMY

Heidelberg, January 2010. For close on 60 years the Good Design Award has been presented in Chicago as an accolade for particularly innovative and design-oriented products. In 2009 the traditional Heidelberg brand Lamy once again impressed the jury – this time with the LAMY dialog 3. This is the eighth time the manufacturer of writing instruments has won the Good Design Award since 1996, making it the most frequently awarded writing instruments brand. In recent years, for example, the LAMY noto, LAMY dialog 2 and LAMY studio were selected as prizewinners by the jury.

The LAMY dialog 3, created by Swiss designer Franco Clivio, is the world’s first twist-action fountain pen whose clip and nib retract when the pen is twisted. A precisely closing ball valve protects the partially platinised 14-carat gold nib from dirt and drying out. Thanks to the mechanism this exceptional writing instrument does not need a cap and therefore stands out with striking aesthetic appeal and a high level of comfort when writing. Within a very short time after its market introduction in October 2009 the LAMY dialog 3 not only received the Good Design Award but also the prestigious iF Award.
