Heidelberg, February 2009. For almost 60 years, the Good Design Award has been awarded each year in Chicago for particularly innovative and design-oriented products. The traditional Heidelberg brand Lamy won the jury over again in 2008 – this time with the LAMY noto. The manufacturer of writing instruments has won the Good Design Award seven times since 1996, meaning that it has now won more awards than any other brand of writing instruments. LAMY pur, LAMY dialog 2 and LAMY studio are just some of the examples that have been recognised by the jury in previous years.
The LAMY noto, designed by Naoto Fukasawa, distinguishes itself through its reduction to the bare essentials, as well as its simplicity and functionality. For the designer Fukasawa, it was a particular challenge to create a ballpoint pen that was unique and which adds something to the Lamy design, but whose stylistic features incorporate and emphasise the principles of the Lamy philosophy established in 1966.
